**Kathmandu:** A new Nepali film titled *"Relko Bato"* is set to be made with the aim of portraying the social, political, and physical realities of the Karnali region on screen. The film will be produced by Kasturi Production Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Red Umbrella Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., with the story and direction by Laxman Sunar.
Announcing the project formally, the production team released a thematic poster. The poster features an archway labeled "Gaunpalika Bhawan Uddghatan" (Rural Municipality Office Inauguration) and a large banner underneath that reads “Welcome to the Prime Minister.” This visual offers a critical commentary—suggesting that Karnali has merely become a “showcase experiment” for the state.
The music will be composed by Suraj Pandit, cinematography handled by Nisal Paudel, and the poster designed by Rakesh Dahal. The film’s executive producer is Nagendra Ghimire, while Kafia Films has acquired its distribution rights.
The line on the poster—*“Take your Singha Durbar, give me back my village”*—delivers a deeply emotional and political message about state neglect.
According to director Sunar, the film will center on the struggles of ordinary people, the relationship between husband and wife, and political indifference. The core narrative will include issues such as the lack of roads in Karnali, difficulties in accessing healthcare, intervention in development projects, and the apathy of the central power.
The movie is scheduled to begin filming in various districts of Karnali by the end of this year, with plans for release in 2083 B.S. (2026 A.D.). The script is currently in its final stages, and the cast will be announced soon, according to the production team.
A previously released music video titled *"Relko Bato"* had garnered notable attention. The film team now aims to bring that same name to the big screen—vividly portraying the pain of remote life and the elusive hope of a train that never arrives.
