Kathmandu: Once a popular actor, Ganesh Upreti is making a comeback to films after nine years.
Shooting for his upcoming film "Jharipachiko Indreni" begins this Thursday. This film also marks the directorial debut of comedian Arjun Ghimire ‘Pande’.
Upreti, who has been living in the United States for a long time, is currently in Kathmandu for this project. His last film “Homework” was released in 2016.
Having started his acting career with “Bhagya Rekha”, Upreti has acted in 43 films. During his active years, he worked in nearly 100 films, portraying roles ranging from a father figure to negative characters. He had a strong career in the film industry.
However, after moving to the U.S. a few years ago, his continuous acting journey came to a halt.
"Jharipachiko Indreni" will also feature performances by Ramesh Upreti, Deepa Shree Niraula, Nirmal Sharma, Priyana Acharya (Munni), among others. Arjun Ghimire himself will also act in the film.
Sushil Kadariya will serve as the choreographer, and the lyrics will be penned by Ganesh Karki.
The film is based on a story written by Kumar Byanjankar and will include a song by Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Rozman Maharjan is also reported to contribute a song to the film.
